Vincent Namatjira: Australia in Colour

Acclaimed Western Aranda Artist's First Survey Exhibition

The National Gallery of Victoria proudly presents Vincent Namatjira: Australia in Colour, the first major survey exhibition of the acclaimed Western Aranda artist, Vincent Namatjira.

Featuring over 100 works from across Namatjira's career, the exhibition explores the artist's unique perspective on Australian landscape, culture, and identity. Through vibrant canvases and intricate drawings, Namatjira's art celebrates the beauty and diversity of our country.

Vincent Namatjira is one of Australia's most celebrated contemporary artists. Born in Alice Springs in 1983, he is the grandson of renowned Aboriginal painter, Albert Namatjira. Vincent Namatjira's work has been exhibited extensively in Australia and internationally, and is represented in major public and private collections.

"Vincent Namatjira is a visionary artist whose work transcends traditional boundaries," said National Gallery of Victoria Director, Tony Ellwood. "We are thrilled to present this groundbreaking exhibition, which will provide a comprehensive overview of Namatjira's remarkable career."

In conjunction with the exhibition, the National Gallery of Victoria has commissioned a new work by Vincent Namatjira, Stand strong for who you are. This powerful painting reflects the artist's unwavering commitment to his culture and his advocacy for Aboriginal rights.
